Encode audio clips that can be played only
on a specified webserver with the Clipstream™ Audio 3 Encoder and a special
license provided to you by a Clipstream™ representative. (Pro version -only)
Requirements:
- Clipstream Audio 3 Encoder - Pro version
- .wav,
.aiff, .cda, .mp3 audio files to encode
- existing Clipstream Audio
3 license
- A server for hosting your files
How
it works
Audio clips encoded with a Secure ID (SID) license
key provided to you by a Clipstream Audio representative will be playable
only by applets that are embedded in pages residing on authorized websites specified
by the user and only if the audio files are located on a specified server.
This is how it works:
- Provide the representative with a server domain
where the clips will be hosted
- A representative provides you with an SID
key AND a new web codekey.
- Input the SID key into the Clipstream
Audio 3 Pro Encoder
- Encode the audio files you want secured
- Upload
the needed files to your secured server
- Embed the new key license into
the playing applet or in a separate KeyURL text file on the server
Acquire
an SID key from a Clipstream Representative
Call
1-800-8-DESTINY and ask to speak to your representative. Security is included
with your Clipstream Audio Pro license but your Secure ID and Secure Code
Key are created manually.
Once you have arranged for an SID, the representative
will email you two different key strings.
Input your SID
Key in the Advanced Options dialog

Hosting secured files
Now that you have determined that the security is working, upload the secured
files to an authorized web server.
- FTP or copy the encoded files as normal
to your authorized web server.
Note: SID-encoded files
use the same applet and common files as non-secured files.
- Edit
web page code that includes the embedded applet and paste your new secure codekey
(not the SID!) into the CodeKeys parameter in the embedded applet.
-
or -
Create a new KeyURL text file that includes only the secure codekey
(not the SID!). Upload it and link to it using the KeyURL parameter.
Note: you cannot mix unsecured and secured keys in the same
KeyURL text file.
Note2: also do not include an unsecured and secured CodeKey
parameter in the same applet.
- Refresh the web page with the
embedded applet and play the clip.
This
secured clip is an example of a secured audio file. In this case, there is no
bitrate detection and a single 64 kbps Mono stream is delivered. These simple
transparent gif buttons replace the default button set and play/stop are set to
toggle. The files are hosted on a different server but clipstreamaudio.com is
authorized to play it.
