Clipstream Audio 3 uses an entirely new audio
codec than version 2, supporting stereo, variable bit rate, new encoder
UI, Wizard and extended licensing model.
New audio quality
Version 3 now supports high quality stereo from your web page. In the Encoder
the user can decide what ranges Clipstream Audio will provide streams
for.
- Version 3-encoded files have higher quality output than MP3.
- The Encoder now outputs to 512kbps connections
- The Encoder can output as many as six different target bit rates

Variable Bitrate Files
When deployed, the Clipstream Audio .csa file performs
with a variable bit rate. Higher bit rate is needed for portions of the
audio sample that require higher fidelity. For portions of the sample that
require less fidelity, the bit rate is reduced. Previously, a Clipstream
Audio file would have the same bit rate throughout. Now, a .csa file may
have a varying range.
ex.
Lots of music = higher bit rate
Spoken word / ambient = lower bit rate
New Encoder UI
A new Encoder UI has been designed from scratch based
upon user feedback and the new audio quality. This includes:
- A step-by-step "Wizard"
- Classic button-activated common functions
- Redesigned file menu system
New licensing
An extended licensing model has been developed that allows
purchasers to buy multiple clips that can be assigned to a domain at a future date. This
means that a bulk purchaser can buy a volume number of clips without having to revisit
licensing for future clients.
